Business Manager's Report 2025
It is a great honor to introduce myself as the Business Manager of IBEW Local 701. As a proud 26-year member of this Local, I have dedicated my career to serving our membership and advancing the values that make this organization so strong. I am humbled by the trust our members have placed in me, and I am fully committed to representing Local 701 with integrity, transparency, and respect.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in several capacities within the Local. First, elected as a member of the 701 Executive Board, appointed as a Business Representative, followed by the appointment as Assistant Business Manager, and currently serving as your Business Manager and Financial Secretary. My involvement in elevating labor began as a delegate of the North Central Illinois Labor Council, and later as president of the council. Each of these roles has given me a deeper appreciation for the hardworking men and women who make up this great Local. Our membership continues to set the standard for skill, professionalism, quality craftsmanship, and pride in the electrical industry, and I could not be more proud to be a part of this organization.
I have been fortunate to work under the leadership and guidance of former Business Managers Frank Furco and Anthony Giunti. Frank and Anthony’s dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on our Local, and I want to thank them for their mentorship. Their commitment to growth and solidarity has helped shape Local 701 into what it is today, and I intend to build on that strong foundation.
As I step into this new role, my priorities are clear. I want to expand opportunities for our members, strengthen our relationships with contractors, and make sure that every member feels heard and supported. I am also focused on ensuring that our Local continues to lead in all areas of our growing electrical industry that represent the future of our trade.
Along with the continued work opportunities, we have been striving to improve our fringe benefits. I am excited to mention benefit improvements that will be shared by our members.
- Individual dental coverage increased from $3000 to $5000
- Death benefit increase for Active members from $10,000 to $20,000
- Vacation Fund – deposit schedule changed from 3 months to 1 month
- Accident and Critical Illness coverage available for purchase through The Standard Insurance Company
- Completion of the Union Eyes expansion project located in Suite 2100
Above all, I believe our greatest strength lies in our unity. Together we will continue to uphold the proud traditions of IBEW Local 701 while preparing for the challenges and opportunities ahead. I look forward to working with all of you as we build a stronger future for our members, families, and the electrical industry.
Wishing all of our Members and their Families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
In Solidarity,
Frank Gravina
